Domaine de Montille is not only one of the greatest domaines in Burgundy, but one of the greatest domaines in France. With a family heritage that can be traced back to the 17th century and a winemaking heritage rooted in Burgundy since 1750, the de Montilles have become synonymous with their hometown of Volnay. Their Puligny-Montrachet mostly comes from a 1.1 ha plot located in the AOC Puligny 1er cru “Les Chalumeaux” which was downgraded to village when it was replanted in 1975. Over the years, both erosion and organic practices have resulted in the roots plunging deeper towards the original terroir. This is classic Puligny Montrachet, fermented and aged in small and large barrel with 15% new oak used in the process. Honeysuckle, citrus, almond. Absolutely delicious.
