Steve Matthiasson has been a staple in the Napa Valley for some time now, first as a farmer and consultant for some big name brands like Spottswoode, Araujo and Stag's Leap and now a well-respected winemaker in his own right. With his talent and dedication to organic farming it seems it was only a matter of time before he started producing his own wines, which are beautifully balanced and now, incredibly popular. The Village Cabernet is intended to be just that - a 'Village' style wine that is an excellent representation of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon without breaking the bank. At just 13.5% ABV this is well balanced, with beautiful berry fruits, cedar and graphite. Not the oak bomb or fruit bomb that Napa often puts out, rather a very good, very classy wine and a great showing of Cabernet Sauvignon.
