Fuentes del Silencio is a relatively new project (first vintage 2014) founded by Dr. Miguel Angel Alonso and his wife Dr. Maria José Galera. And though that may scream "rich people making wine", FDS is far from that reality and instead an incredibly honest attempt at resurrecting a lot of ancient vineyards and a winegrowing family tradition. Las Jaras is the village wine and a superbly crafted blend with real origin that evokes the aromas and flavors akin to Northern Rhone Syrah. This is a wine that feels like it has been marinated and slow-roasted to perfection. Raw and filled with depth with notes of aged balsamic, dark berries, herbs and cocoa.
