South African Red
Mullineux 'Kloof Street' Rouge, Swartland, South Africa 2021
- 69% Syrah, 15% Tinta Barocca, 11% Grenache, 4% Cinsault, 1% Carignan
- Practicing Organic
Andrea Mullineux, Wine Enthusiasts 2016 Winemaker of the Year, has made quite a name for herself over the past decade, producing some of South Africa's most enticing wines made from Syrah and Chenin Blanc primarily. Along with her husband, Chris, they now have several bottlings, including the Kloof Street range, which blends Syrah with Douro Valley staple, Tinta Barocca, and sprinkles of Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan. It's a beautiful wine and a great entry into the red wines of the Swartland. Dark berry fruited, with rustic tannins and an earthy edge. Interesting and tasty stuff.
