Vasse Felix are the founding winery in Australia's Margaret River on the west coast, producing an array of wines from their estate grown fruit. The Cabernets show real Bordeaux-like qualities; restrained and fresh, not overblown, not overoaked. These are wines made with finesse and balance. Filius is the 'son of' the Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon made from the estate's younger vines (average 20 years) and produced in an earlier drinking more forward style. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak for 12 months (10% new, 90% 1-5 year old) before bottling, this is a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon that punches well above it's weight.
